Types and classifications of spring surface treatments in Zhuji
2023-04-26
After Zhuji spring products have been manufactured to their various sizes and models, their surfaces require further processing. Surface treatment is the final step, directly impacting the spring's performance and lifespan. Common surface treatments include the following categories.
1: Phosphating
Phosphating is a common surface treatment technique for springs, used in over half of all spring production. It's a process involving chemical and electrochemical reactions to form a phosphate chemical conversion coating. During this conversion, the phosphate layer is called a phosphate film, which provides protection.
2: Blackening/Bluing
Blackening and bluing are surface treatments resulting in different appearances but similar underlying principles. Heating in a liquid containing sodium nitrite forms a blue iron oxide layer. Heating in a sodium hydroxide solution produces a black oxide layer, hence the term "blackening/bluing".
3: Polishing
Polishing is a physical method using mechanical force to reduce surface roughness, resulting in a bright, smooth finish.
4: Galvanizing
This involves applying a coating to the surface of metal or alloy materials to protect the spring. Galvanizing comes in various colors, including white, metallic, and colored zinc plating.
